A week before Assaf Yasour’s bar mitvah he was electrocuted, causing him to lose both of his hands and changing his life forever. Assaf is an energetic, athletic youth who dreams of representing Israel in the Olympics.
Assaf’s doctors recommended that Assaf be fitted for advanced bionic hands that will allow him to be independent again and to once again excel in all areas of life. This process required two surgeries in the United States and were extremely expensive.

We all saw the tremendous story of Assaf's journey on "Uvdah". Even though he's still just a boy, Assaf is already a hero, and he never stopped smiling during this entire ordeal. But Assaf's story still isn't over. The cost of the surgeries, arms, and treatment has left Assaf's family 1,000,000 shekels in debt.

Together, we can help the Yasour family. By giving together we can help raise the money for Assaf and let the Yasour family return to their lives.

Matan was founded in 1997 in order to assist the residents of the Golan Heights and other areas in Israel’s north where there are significant levels of poverty (Kiryat Shemona, Hatzor, Tzfat, and Tiberias). We work closely with all local agencies to provide food packages and financial aid to needy families, lone soldiers, and individuals who require assistance. At Matan we work hard to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles that get in the way of the help that the residents of these communities need.
