● Guidance and assistance in obtaining services
● Help with errands such as purchasing food and medicine
● Home repairs (by appointment)
● Referrals for receiving hot meals

Melabev specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and raises public awareness of the needs of older adults and people with dementia. Melabev enables quality of life with dignity and increased self-worth for its participants, while providing respite and support for their loved ones.

Melabev was founded in 1981 by Prof. Arnold Rosin, and Mrs. Leah Abramowitz, MSW, both of Shaarei Zedek Hospital's Geriatric Department. Through their work with geriatric patients, they found that when patients with dementia were being discharged there were virtually no services in the community for this population. So they opened the first day care program in Israel for people with Alzheimer's disease - providing a day of therapeutic activities for the participants and much-needed respite and support for their families.

In Israel, there are approximately 180,000 people with Alzheimer’s disease, and thousands more who have not been diagnosed. Of those with diagnoses, 10% are aged 65 and younger.

Melabev’s Programs & Services:

5 Day Centers - comprised of groups based on cognitive level. Social and therapeutic activities are provided as well as breakfast, a hot lunch and round-trip transportation.

Pe’ima Group - for people with Young Onset Dementia - aged 65 and younger.

At Home with Melabev - one-on-one professional therapeutic activities in the home.

Support Groups - for family members and caregivers.‬‬

Savion - a computer software program of mind stimulating exercises, developed by Melabev.

Moked 109 Telephone Reassurance Program - friendly check-in calls to older adults.

Caregiving Service - trained personal caregivers placed with older adults in the community.

Research Unit - studies conducted in collaboration with academic institutions in Israel and abroad.

Sharing the Knowledge - lectures, workshops and seminars, organized by request.

Merchav-Melabev Memory Clinics - memory assessments and treatment recommendations.
