For over 30 years, the Israel National Council for the Child has been a strong and courageous advocate for all children in Israel. Too many children in Israel face violence, exploitation, and neglect. Many children and their families experience harmful situations and systems that work against the children's best interest. Children are not influential and have no political or economic power, they are unable to protect themselves. It is the responsibility of adults to protect them. The Israel National Council for the Child (NCC) takes that responsibility very seriously.

The NCC is an independent, non-governmental organization, Israel's foremost advocate for all children's rights and well-being, serving all children in Israel, from birth to age 18. The NCC envisions Israel as a country where all children will be safe, healthy, educated, and allowed every opportunity to grow and develop to their fullest potential.

Through our hands-on work in programs directly aiding thousands of individual children, we gain keen insights about policies and practices that lead to changes for all, particularly the thousands of children at risk of poor educational, social, health and welfare outcomes.

Social change brought about by NCC efforts has been achieved by the NCC's ability to raise awareness and focus the public agenda on child related issues such as the dangers of shaking babies, the need for foster care legislation and specific situations that put children at risk of abuse. No other organization offers such comprehensive and versified services for children. NCC utilizes a professional staff and broad volunteer task force from different professional and cultural communities. The NCC is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors who meet regularly to supervise the Council's work. The NCC is the recipient of several awards including Zusman-JDC Prize for Excellence in the Field of Social Services, Quality Government Knight Award, Movement for Quality Government; Adler Prize for Child Welfare; Ometz Award for Correct Management; and Prize for Excellence in Social Affairs, Sderot Conference for Society.

NCC services are provided free-of-charge to all children and their families, and on their behalf, regardless of gender, location, religious affiliation or socio-economic status.

To retain our independence, objectivity, and freedom to act in defense of children under all circumstances, NCC does not accept government funding. NCC depends on grants and donations from those concerned with the welfare of Israel’s children to provide our essential services, most of which are not provided by any other institution in Israel.
