The ‘ALMA’ Project
Another milestone in Galila’s efforts in promoting and developing the Galilee region, is a social entrepreneurs’ project dealing with the analysis and ‘hasbara’ of Israel’s security challenges along her northern borders with Lebanon and Syria.
The ‘ALMA’ Educational Research Centre was envisaged and created by Lt. Colonel (res.) Sarit Zehavi, a local resident and veteran IDF intelligence officer who takes groups and VIP visitors on a fascinating on-site educational ‘hasbara’ tour, highlighting the most current developments on either side of the border(s) and how they impact Israel’s security challenges and responses.
The Galila foundation took the decision to assist ‘ALMA’ – a non-profit entity, in developing its research and analysis effort and to enable this new organization to evolve into a viable and leading institute in the field. ’Alma’s’ team of speakers and researcher/analysts all come from the Galilee region and from diverse ethnic and professional backgrounds. Together as a team, they provide a very important service to the global English-speaking community in better understanding Israel’s security challenges as well as the lives of Israeli communities residing along the volatile northern Borders, drawn from an authentic, current and non-political viewpoint.
Supporting ‘Alma’s’ work will enhance the centre’s research and analysis capacity as well as build the operation and capacity of this evolving non-profit organization. It will provide an authentic voice in interpreting Israel’s extraordinary security challenges in the northern border regions.
