Roni's Neighbors, former "Heart to Plate", is an Israeli social organization that aims to reduce loneliness among senior citizens by connecting them to the community. One-third of people over 65 (senior neighbors) experience loneliness, which grew worse during the October 7th war, and over 200,000 of those people are senior citizens who are alone without family support. Loneliness affects their psychological and social well-being and even increases the risks of dementia, heart disease and early death. Despite being transparent, loneliness is a disease clear to all of us; The solution is simple and inexpensive, but still difficult to accomplish. Struggling with loneliness: "Roni's Neighbors" was founded in 2021 with the aim of combating the loneliness of senior citizens by creating social belonging and community-based networks. It was named in honor of co-founder Roni Lee, who directed it until her tragic death at the age of 28 in October of 2023. An energetic, accomplished and charismatic young woman, Roni could have pursued to any career path, but caring for lonely seniors was her calling and passion. Her legacy is a cornerstone of the organization's mission, embodying a commitment from the bottom of the heart to care for the community and the well-being of the senior neighbors. To carry on Roni's journey, we, Roni's family and friends, decided to start a fundraising campaign to ensure the association would continue operating and growing.
