First Sergeant Shachar Fridman z”l, was a 21-year-old paratrooper who bravely fell in battle during the war in Gaza in November 2023. Shachar, a beacon of light and joy, gave his life defending the State of Israel and the Jewish people. His love for humanity knew no bounds. Shachar was a soul who naturally gravitated towards helping those often overlooked, bringing them into the warmth of his friendship and laughter. Whether it was as a Bnei Akiva counselor for kids with disabilities, helping the elderly with their groceries, or befriending the kids who didn’t have many friends, Shachar treated everyone as an equal and brought joy to all who knew him. His youthful mischief and boundless energy made him the life of every gathering, living each moment to the fullest. Shachar's last message to his family encapsulates the essence of his spirit: "The greatest quality that one can have, is the ability to make another person happy”. In honor of Shachar's legacy, his family has set up a memorial fund that will continue his mission of kindness and joy. The fund will be used to support causes that were important to Shachar, ensuring that his love for life and his dedication to making others happy lives on. Let us unite in remembering a true hero who embodied the best of us, and in doing so, carry forward the light he brought into this world.
