Supporting Romi

"I learned that when there is darkness and obscurity, it enables horrible things to happen” For years, Romi has been fighting alone against her abusers. After the country failed (protecting/helping) and enabled her abusers to keep on hurting her and others, we can't leave her alone anymore. Romi is a mother of 5, who left the Ultra-orthadox (Charedi) community. She insisted on bringing light to the darkest spots, and has been paying high prices for it. Today, we must stand behind her and give our support. Romi was raised by the name Ruchami, an ultra-orthadox girl who grew up in an abusive home where she was Sexually abused from her closest people. She was married off by the age of 17 and was sent to a rising star in the ultra-orthadox community for trauma therapy. He, who promised her a safe place, took advantage of her dependence and innocence to and raped her. Despite her fear from the police, she was the first to file a complaint against this man, who was found to be a serial sexual abuser. If the police would have performed additional investigative actions, 13 years of sexual abuse of other children and woman. She is also the only one who was exposed with tremendous strength, with her name and face on national TV. where she told about the abuse and the way she was silenced for her choice to speak up- in order to wake the ultra-orthadox (Charedi) community where she went through the abuse and to stop the silencing mechanism. In the past decade, before Walder’s real face was exposed in public, she went under endless campaigns of Incitement and defamation. Despite that she chose to act so others won't go through what she went through. Alongside her being a mother to 5 children, she became a social activist that harnessed her hard experiences to lectures, Raising awareness and social and legal fights. This life has an unbearably heavy mental price tag, and alongside it an economic price tag as well. She carries on her back debts from the many legal battles she has had to wage, and the ongoing cost of running a family. Due to the home where she grew up, she has no family to rely on or a supportive financial backing. Raising 5 children alone in such circumstances and in the shadow of the trauma is indescribable. Romi and her children (who also grew up in the shadow of the trauma) need care they have never received, and financial support that they desperately need. This time we, her friends, stand by her side, asking anyone who can support Rupomi, our brave friend. Romi needs our support so that she can become stronger and better for herself and her children, and continue to work on a mission she has taken on: to bring healing to more women, girls and boys who have gone through the same traumas. What will the money be used for? Funding for Romi’s treatments and her 5 children for the coming years - emotional treatments, pain treatments, pressure cell, tailored post-trauma treatment and more at a cost of hundreds of thousands of shekels. Debt coverage that has accumulated in the last two years following Romi's dealing with the trauma (hundreds of thousands of shekels to banks and individuals). And what about the money from the silence agreement? As described in the original show, Romi signed a silence agreement that robbed her of her voice. Since then, she has not touched the money. For her, these are bloody money. She is unable to use this money, which is still in the bank. She designates it for other victims in her condition. For 25 years, Romi has been standing alone.
