Hand in Hand (HIH) was established in 1997 to create an inclusive shared society in Israel through a network of integrated bilingual schools and organized community activities. These activities combat the prevailing reality in which Jews and Arabs live side by side but with limited contact and a separated education system. More than 2,000 students and their extended families participate each day in this bilingual and integrated environment. Each class in HIH schools have two teachers – one Arab and one Jewish – who teach in two languages. HIH schools are public schools and receive core funding from the Ministry of Education.
