Congregation “Reishit Tevuato” was founded in 2001 by 11 families, graduates of Yeshivot Gevohot and Yeshivot Hesder, via a Ministry of Housing initiative, in order to revive the settlement of Harish, which was then a ghost-town, and turn it into a prosperous and flourishing community. Since then, the community has grown to over 100 families in the center of what is now the big city of Harish. In addition to a vibrant synagogue offering many inspiring minyanim and shiurim daily, Reishit Tevuato operates various educational programs in Harish (such as an afternoon Talmud Torah, youth learning center, youth groups and activities), many charity projects (a tzedakah fund, loans for the needy, maternity assistance, etc.), and various Jewish cultural activities. The community’s ultimate goal is to spread a warm and welcoming Judaism to all of the city’s residents. With G-d’s help, over the years this dream is being turned to reality and Harish today is a city developing at a rapid rate, attracting many young families, blooming both physically and spiritually.
