Operation Ethiopia is a proudly Jewish and Israeli organization whose mission is to provide life-changing Eyecare to every Ethiopian in need. We bring direct care to patients who otherwise have no medical care through our Mobile Eyecare Clinics, sight-restoring surgery campaigns, and we empower Ethiopian ophthalmologists with hands-on surgical training. We treat patients in both the Jewish communities of Ethiopia and in the broader non-Jewish villages. To date we have treated over 17,000 people who would otherwise not have gotten care, we have restored eyesight to over 4,000 people, and trained 21 Ethiopian ophthalmologists in ophthalmic subspecialties. Our work has gotten considerable publicity in Ethiopia for helping build diplomatic ties between Israel and Ethiopia through our humanitarian work.
