Dear Grants Intake Manager,
I would like to present Tali B’Yad Rama, an NGO that funds fertility treatments for couples who long for children but cannot afford the steep fees associated with treatment. This request seeks to provide IVF treatments for 85 Israeli couples.
When life is lost, we bring new life to the world.
Our Story: Tali and her 4 daughters
Tali B’Yad Rama was founded in 2004 in memory of Tali Hatuel, her four daughters and unborn child who were murdered by terrorists on their way to an ultrasound checkup for the family’s new child. Tali’s husband, after burying his family, and in the midst of grieving, became determined to bring new life into the world in response to the lives of his family that were taken. He founded Tali B’Yad Rama.
What We Do: Breathing Life into the World
Tali B'Yad Rama funds fertility treatments for hundreds of Israeli couples who cannot afford to pay for treatment on their own. Even couples, who seek treatment through socialized medical clinics, find that medications and treatments are not always covered. Depending on the couples’ age and the treatment prescribed, only a portion of treatment is funded by medical insurance. Sometimes socialized insurance does not participate in the costs at all.
We Stand Out Among Organizations that Addresses Fertility Challenges
Tali B'Yad Rama is run 100% by volunteers and has no overhead. We are the only organization who funds fertility treatments in Israel. Other organizations provide fertility advice, but do not fund the actual treatments. Often, advisory organizations such as the Puah Institute or Bonei Olam refer their constituents to us for treatment funding. Requests for assistance, advice and emotional support via Tali B'Yad Rama are available online or by telephone. Financial aid requests are forwarded to a committee which meets once every 10 days. The committee determines which couples will receive the grants based on their financial circumstances and cost of the treatments in question. The committee transfer the money only after the treatment and after the couple sent the invoice for their payment.
Since our inception, we have provided financial assistance and emotional support to hundreds of couples pursuing fertility treatment.
Need
Parks, school playgrounds, synagogues, sidewalks, and just about everywhere you look in Israel, there are smiling children. What about the couples who cannot conceive? The couples who long for children but have no hope of birthing on their own? These women and men are in constant pain, they walk the streets and see children everywhere, and the emotional trauma grows even worse. The pain is intensified even more when help is available, when medical science can help the couple conceive, but would-be-parents cannot afford the garishly expensive treatments.
The Cost of Fertility Treatments
Even the least invasive treatments can be expensive. Treatment as simple as medication can cost $250 a month. That is $3,000 a year for young couples who have not yet reached their full earning capacity. Not to mention the cost of complicated procedures whose costs can run to $10,000 and higher.
Project: New Life: IVF Treatment for Childless Couples
Need:
The average cost of IVF treatment is $450. This cost can reach as high as $850 and more in certain cases. The cost, even for families who earn a comfortable living, is astronomic.
Project Description:
Project New Life will provide partial funding for 85 couples undergoing IVF treatment. It will not only bring the joy of parenthood to the couple, but it will bring new life into the world in memory of Tali, her daughters, and those who have fallen in Israel’s terrorist attacks.
