CJD Foundation Israel

After discovering that both my daughter Maya and I are carriers of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), I founded the association in 2008 with the mission of advancing treatment for this fatal neurodegenerative disease. CJD leads to death within months and has already taken the lives of my father and brother at a young age. Israel has the highest prevalence of CJD in the world due to a hereditary genetic mutation, with the disease typically manifesting from the age of 30. Families like mine are forced to live under constant fear of this devastating illness. Out of this personal calling, I have dedicated myself to promoting research – building collaborations with scientists worldwide and establishing the national biobank of patients and their families. This biobank was created together with Clalit Health Services, Soroka Medical Center, and MIDGAM.
