Haverut was founded on the core belief that professional healthcare alone is not sufficient to ensure the wellbeing of patients but that meeting the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, their loved ones and medical professionals is just as crucial for healing the body. We use the arts, the language of spirituality and human connection as means for coping with illness and developing resilience in the face of suffering and death. Our spiritual caregivers and musicians work in medical settings, particularly in chronic illness departments and hospice, to provide patients and medical staff with comfort and help them access their inner resources, as well as to help facilitate meaningful end-of-life experiences. Haverut also works directly with medical center leadership, encouraging them to adopt an approach for healing both body and soul by combining professional excellence and state-of-the-art medical service with creativity and the values of compassion and humility. Our lectures, workshops and courses for healthcare professionals and students, as well as our training program in spiritual care, allow us to spread the vision, language and methods of Haverut to medical centers across the country. Over the past 15 years, Haverut has been active in hospitals, medical schools, professional conferences and an array of other venues, touching the lives of tens of thousands of people.
