More than thirty years ago, the “Yad Brodman" kollel was established in Rehovot for training soldiers after their army service to be teachers and dayanim (torah judges). In the beginning, the kollel was headed by Rabbi Moshe Haim Dimantman shlita. Yad Brodman is a Zionist orientated kollel that aims to raise and train the future spiritual leadership of the national religious public. Rabbi Dimantman currently serves as the president of the kollel, which is led by Rabbi Meir Berkowitz, assisted by Rabbi Yossi Shalit. The kollel has stimulated the growth in Rehovot of many Torah frameworks, which are suitable for students from school age to pensioners. In addition, the kollel has produced rabbis and educators who are active in both Rehovot and the rest of Israel in various frameworks such as: high school and middle school yeshivot, yeshivot, kollelim, communities and towns. Seven rabbis that learned at Kollel Yad Brodman currently serve as rabbis in Rehovot in the spirit of the Torah of Eretz Israel. The kollel took it upon itself to focus on providing torah related activities for the youth and for the community as a whole; as such the kollel established a torah based group that is active in Rehovot. The members of this group spread torah during the week and on Saturdays by teaching Gemara, Halacha and Jewish thought. In addition, the members of the group provide assistance and guidance to families of Rehovot from all walks of life and from all backgrounds and levels, in synagogues, women's circles, high schools, schools and youth movements, and also to pensioners. Activities of the kollel include the following: • A unique and in depth study program towards dayannut (torah judge) • A beit din for monetary cases called "Avnei Mishpat” • An extension of the kollel in the Yeshivat Hadarom school in Rehovot for rabbinical studies • A Friday morning learning program in the Ohel Chayim synagogue • Torah lessons in several places of learning for pensioners • Publication of a torah journal called “Avnei Mishpat” • Community activities and torah classes in synagogues, schools, youth movements, and during “bein hazmanim” when schools and yeshivot are closed • Running a torah based group called “Yad Brodman Rehovot” which works to strengthen and spread torah study and torah related activities for the youth, for new immigrants and the general population of Rehovot. It is appropriate to recall the late Rabbi Menachem Klein, who died on the seventh night of Passover 2019, the man who headed Yad Brodman from its inception and was the main "engine" and drive for its success. We have already seen the fruits of his efforts; the graduates of Yad Brodman currently hold esteemed positions in Rehovot and elsewhere, including dayanim in the rabbinical courts, teachers, heads of high school yeshivot and hesder yeshivot, rabbis of communities and rabbis of synagogues. The kollel needs your financial assistance in order to raise another generation of torah scholars with a Zionist orientation and to cater for the many needs of people who turn to us. We are willing to assist you to dedicate the memory of a beloved one or to sponsor a learning program or torah lesson. The kollel has an income tax exemption according to Section 46.
