Ruach Dromit (Israeli nonprofit association) has been operating since 2013 in the Negev and southern Israel to make complementary and integrative therapies accessible to people coping with cancer, to family caregivers, and at times to medical teams, based on a holistic approach that recognizes that alongside conventional medicine there is a need for supportive care that helps reduce pain, stress, and side effects, strengthens emotional resilience, and restores a sense of control and dignity during a deeply destabilizing period. The organization provides a range of treatments such as acupuncture, reflexology, therapeutic massage, guided imagery, psychotherapy, and additional modalities, delivered by certified practitioners who receive dedicated training for working with oncology populations. Services are offered through several complementary settings: bedside treatments within the oncology services at Soroka Medical Center; a community-based center in Be’er Sheva (“Beit Ruach Dromit”) that serves as a therapeutic and supportive space with accompaniment activities, groups, and workshops; and a home hospice program for terminally ill patients who cannot leave their homes, bringing relief and comfort precisely when mobility, finances, and time become real barriers. Along this continuum of care, Ruach Dromit also runs targeted programs for specific populations, including initiatives for women coping with breast cancer (including support gatherings and retreats such as “Recovering Together”) and a program for children with cancer. In recent years, the organization has expanded its reach to additional areas in the south in response to growing need. In 2024, Ruach Dromit provided thousands of treatments over the year, reported in the range of over 6,750 to over 7,000 treatments depending on the reporting framework, with a significant portion delivered free of charge or at a symbolic cost, to ensure that no one is left behind due to economic hardship, geographic distance, or lack of a family support network.
