Lev Chash has been active for the past 20 years assisting three disadvantaged populations in Haifa: families in financial need, elderly Holocaust survivors, and the families of chronically ill children. Lev Chash assists thousands of people annually, and its door is open to all people in need regardless of race, gender, religion, or nationality.
Lev Chash believes in partnering with organization and companies, and works in full cooperation with the local municipality, including the welfare department. Among our volunteers and partners are businesses, professionals, students and teenagers. Each year, over 1,000 people volunteer in the non-profit's various activities, approximately 90 of these volunteer on a regular, year-round basis.
Lev Chash provides a wide variety of services for people in need. Among these:
· A chain of dental clinics for the needy, with free treatment for people with mental disabilities
· A center providing furniture and household accessories for families in need;
· Delivering thousands of food-baskets to the needy
· A tutoring-mentorship program for pediatric cancer patients
· A project assisting lonely senior citizens who are visited weekly by city inspectors
· Activities in hospitals benefitting the sick and their families
· Building a guesthouse for the families of children battling cancer, adjacent to Rambam Hospital – presently under concstruction
The association serves as an emergency center in times of crisis such as wars and fires in Haifa in cooperation with the municipality.
During the Corona crisis, starting in March 2020, the association established an emergency assistance center in three main areas, in cooperation with the Welfare Department of the Haifa Municipality:
Distribution of food baskets and cooked food to elderly Holocaust survivors and the needy - over 30,000 portions of cooked food and food baskets were distributed, to the people's homes, through 400 volunteers.
2. A telephone aid center for the elderly - 150 students accompanied elderly citizens by telephone on a weekly basis. The volunteers provided the elderly with support and reassurance, and provided assistance to needs that arose, such as: food, refrigerators and more.

The Emergency Center is still active, and we experience an increase in food demand of over 700%.
