Virtus Israel (The Israeli Association for Special Games) conducts friendly and competitive sports activities for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and Down syndrome (Not Paralympic athletes).
Virtus Israel is a member of the International Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Impairments.
As a national charity we promote, facilitate and support athletes with intellectual impairments in Israel so that they can train, compete and excel in national and international sports competitions.
Besides promoting professionalism in sports, Virtus Israel Association has been a leading force for the past 35 years in promoting and integrating athletes with disabilities into Israeli society. The Association is a Registered Charity in Israel (No. 580114825).
We are recognized by the Israel Ministry of sports.
The number of athletes active in the framework of the association is about 4000, from recreational sports to the highest professional level (including children from the age of 8, as well as youth and adults).
During the year, athletes participate in competitions and sports events in 20 different sports (Olympic and non-Olympic) adapted to their level of ability.
The main goal of the organization's activity is to promote and empower people's abilities through sports training and competitions, thus contributing to their physical abilities and mental strength, as individuals and equality in society; As well as being a source of pride for their families and supportive framework.
During sports, athletes develop many different abilities and promote themselves in terms of levels of health, mental and social interaction. We encourage the personal ability of each athlete and enable him to progress and compete according to his ability and professional level.
