Lapid Afikei Daat Sderot

The Yeshivat Hesder in Sderot was established 25 years ago in the city of Sderot. The idea was to create a beacon of Torah and Chesed in this development town. The main branch numbers today over 450 students. In addition there are two satellite branches- one in Sderot with 200 students and one in Kiryat Gat with 120 students. The Yeshiva's main mission is to educate its students to be the future leaders in Israel's society. The Yeshiva is known for being very dedicated toward the students. The atmosphere in the Yeshiva is very warm and family like. The students live together in dormitories, and also serve in the army together, in the most elite combat units. The students are also very involved in the community, and volunteer in many areas such as helping senior citizens, learning with local high school students, aiding needy families, and being part of the first response security team. During the difficult times, when Sderot is under rocket fire, the Yeshiva is always there for the city, being a source of resilience and stability.
