The Keren Zadaka of Yerucham was founded approximately 20 years ago by a number of students at the Yerucham Hesder Yeshiva and has been a registered non profit since 2007. Since its founding, the charity’s activities have grown and it now comprises 15 regular volunteers who provide assistance for hundreds of families in Yerucham.
Keren Zadaka does not receive assistance from the government, but rather sees itself as an agent of the public, entrusted to distribute charity. All of our staff are volunteers and operating expenses are kept to an absolute minimum. This is what makes Keren Zadaka unique- all of the money collected from the public go towards helping the less fortunate.
Our Vision:
We have faith in people, and believe that everyone has the right and the ability to live an independent life. We’re here to help those who are at a point in their lives where it’s difficult to get by. Therefore, our vision is to get as many people back on their feet as possible, and help them provide for themselves and preserve their self-dignity, in accordance with the Rambam in Hilchot Tzedakah.
As such, we work to distribute tzedakah that’s more effective than a one time donation. As part of our philosophy we invest in financial counseling for these families so they can help themselves as well.
Our organization runs a number of joint projects with welfare authorities in Yerucham. We are a registered non profit and possess a certificate of proper management.
