The Shalheveth organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with severe
physical disabilities who wish to live in the community as equals. To this end, Shalheveth has two
avenues of activity: Beit Shalheveth, and projects for people with disabilities throughout the country.
Beit Shalheveth is a unique venture in Israel which operates accessible and independent apartments
in a communal building, for 13 people with severe physical disabilities and their caregivers. This
setup allows the residents to experience independence, privacy and control over their lives, as well as
self-fulfillment and a sense of equality.
Each resident manages his or her own home and life independently, as he or she deems fit. Some of
the residents also employ caregivers.
The Shalheveth organization supports Beit Shalheveth’s residents and equips them with skills to lead
a functional and independent life within the community.
