The Misgav Institute for National Security is a leading independent, non-partisan research and policy center. Its goal is to ensure a strong and thriving Israel integrated into a peaceful and prosperous Middle East. The Institute works closely with leaders, decision-makers and opinion influencers in order to advance innovative, realist and pragmatic national security strategies, while strengthening Israel’s international alliances and standing. The Misgav Institute is led by Meir Ben Shabbat, Israel’s longest-serving National Security Advisor (2017-2021). In his role as NSA, Ben Shabbat served as the chief Israeli architect of the historic Abraham Accords, and oversaw Israel’s strategic relations with world powers. Prior to this role, Ben Shabbat held numerous senior positions in Israel’s General Security Services (Shabak), including chief of the Southern (Gaza), Counter-Intelligence, Research, and Cyber Divisions. The Institute's Executive Directors are Asher Fredman and David M. Weinberg. Its more than 30 Fellows and researchers include former high-ranking military and security officers, senior diplomats, and prominent professors and practitioners of Middle East affairs, Abraham Accords diplomacy, international relations, military strategy, public security, international law, technology and innovation, public diplomacy, and Israel-Diaspora relations.
