Over the past decade, Professor Eli Wertman, a senior neurologist specializing in behavioral and cognitiveAlmost half of the elderly population suffers from cognitive impairment. In Israel alone, there are over 300,000 patients suffering from dementia! Over the past decade, Or-Ad has been supporting Professor Eli Wertman's clinic, a neurologist specializing in behavioral and cognitive neurology and geriatric neurology, along with his team (neurologists, neuropsychologists, nurses, and additional staff). They have found that by identifying all cognitive and behavioral components active in dementia patients and diagnosing all medical factors contributing to it, it is possible to slow down or stabilize the symptoms of the disease and offer improvement to elderly patients. Or-Ad took upon itself to promote this method (Intensive Neuropsychogeriatric Evaluation, Treatment, and Prevention – INETAP), spread it, and make it accessible to the underprivileged. For the past ten years, Or-Ad has been providing this treatment to the residents of Sderot by bringing doctors qualified in the INETAP method to treat patients based on the recommendations of the city's welfare services. Since the outbreak of the war, this need has significantly increased, and the association has responded to requests from healthcare providers and welfare services from Sderot and the Gaza envelope to treat adults who have not evacuated their homes, as well as those who have been relocated to hotels across the country (Dead Sea, Jerusalem, and Netanya). Nowdays, Or-Ad is continuing its support in post-war rehabilitation, to support the welfare and medical services in Sderot and the Gaza envelope. This is a life-saving service - join the Or-Ad in helping the elderly in the Gaza envelope and their families!
