The National Council for the Child (NCC) mission to promote the rights and well-being of all children and youth in Israel hasn’t wavered since 1980, continuously adapting to current challenges. With over four decades of experience, the NCC is the leading professional body in shaping policy, education, and advocacy at the national level. The NCC's activities focus on the following key pillars:
-
The Ombudsperson: Provides initial assistance and support each year to thousands of children, parents, and professionals reaching out regarding risk situations, violence, neglect, and rights within the education and welfare systems.
-
The Center for Child Victims: Provides close, professional accompaniment to children and youth who have been victims of sexual offenses and severe violence. The center provides over 600 accompaniments annually throughout the entire criminal justice process.
-
Research and Legislation: Leading updated research and reports, most notably the annual "Children in Israel" Statistical report. Throughout its years of operation, the NCC has initiated and promoted over 160 landmark laws and legislative amendments to protect children's rights.
-
Leadership and Youth Participation: Operating programs that involve young people in decision-making processes and empower their ability to make an impact. Within this framework, the Youth Parliament is a unique model developed by the NCC, which is currently implemented across a wide range of fields.
