For many years, the Talmud Yerushalmi (Jerusalem Talmud) received little attention from all but the most advanced of Torah students and scholars, for a variety of reasons.
But with the return of the Jews to their homeland, a new desire has been awakened among them to also return to the widespread study of the Talmud Yerushalmi, the "Talmud of the Land of Israel", which carries a uniquely relevant message for this era of national rebirth.
The Machon Hayerushalmi seeks to speed this awakening of interest by publishing a new edition of selected tractates of the Talmud Yerushalmi, with commentaries aimed specifically at the beginning student, as well as books which present the spiritual and educational insights of the Yerushalmi in a topical format. Dedication opportunities for these volumes are available.
From time to time, the Machon Hayerushalmi also conducts educational events, such as shabbatons, conferences, and book launch events for new tractates, in a wide range of locations around Israel. It also publishes a bi-weekly handout for elementary school children about the Talmud Yerushalmi, and a weekly email newsletter for its supporters containing a brief d'var torah.
