Kehillat HaTzur VeH’atzohar was established in 2005 by 15 families under the leadership of Australian-born Rabbi Dr. Levi Cooper, a dynamic educator, lecturer, and author. This pioneering group established a modern, Zionist, Orthodox community that emphasizes education, youth involvement, community activism, and tikkun olam. Kehillat HaTzur VeH’atzohar serves the wider community, and is open to the religious, social, and cultural diversity of Tzur Hadassah’s residents. Over the years, the community established institutions and programs that have had a major impact on Jewish and religious life in Tzur Hadassah, including the mikveh, learning programs, kindergartens and a day school, a Bnei Akiva youth chapter and more.
Today, the community has grown into a mosaic of over 130 families, comprised of native Israelis and new immigrants, Ashkenazim and Sephardim, younger and older families, Jews by birth and Jews by choice. Our community also hosts the broader Tzur Hadassah community – religious, traditional, secular, and unaffiliated – for services on the High Holy Days and other festivals and for the celebration of personal milestones.
