The New Fund for Cinema and Television (NFCT) is a leading film fund, a non-profit non-partisan organization, established in 1994 and dedicated to supporting and promoting Israeli cinema, with a special focus on socially impactful documentary films. Widely recognized as the organization behind the success of Israeli film, the NFCT's portfolio comprises more than 1,000 films that document the rich composition of Israeli culture and society in a wide array of film genres.
Alongside promoting excellent Israeli filmmaking, the NFCT is driven by the proposition that film is a powerful tool for exposing the public to pressing challenges confronting Israeli society and mobilizing them to seek solutions. We believe that films (made possible through our funding and professional support), are the ultimate tool to influence large audiences, educate, and promote tolerance, empathy and a healthy and solid civil society.
By identifying and supporting filmmakers from diverse backgrounds across Israel, the NFCT helps create generations of social activists, who give voice to the communities they were born into and who return to these communities as social change agents. The film industry also provides a livelihood to these filmmakers, who are fighting for equality, recognition and righting the social wrongs they witness around them. Throughout history, artists in the broad sense of the word, filmmakers included, have been at the vanguard of change. We support the next generation of Israeli filmmakers.
