About the Project
This is the story of the Menachem-Doek family. For years, this family dedicated their lives to helping others, giving generously to underprivileged children, volunteering at cancer patient associations, and making a positive impact in their community. In 2017, Mira, the mother, was honored with a certificate of appreciation by the President of Israel for her significant volunteer contribution and was nominated for the Jerusalem Prize for the Unity of Israel. However, they went from a family that donates to the needy, to one that needs support. Their lives were turned upside down when Elad, the father, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Since the diagnosis, Elad has been unable to walk without support, go up or down stairs, take a shower or do simple routine activities. In addition to Elad’s health crisis, the business of his wife Mira, the sole breadwinner by now, collapsed during the COVID pandemic. She had to go through the excruciating process of bankruptcy while doing everything to get the best care for Elad. They are now without income besides the social security benefits. The family is now facing the threat of losing their home, as the apartment they have rented for years is being sold. The landlord offered it to them but they cannot get a mortgage due to their financial and health situations. They have looked to rent another handicapped accessible apartment in Jerusalem, but the lack of options and high costs have made it impossible. Their only option is to buy their rented apartment which has been adapted to Elad’s needs, and is within a walking distance from their children’s schools. This family has given so much to others throughout their lives, and now they need our help. They need a safe and accessible home for Elad and their three teenagers. They need financial support to cover their basic needs and expenses. They need a community that can rally around them and offer them the support they need to get through this crisis. We are asking for your help in supporting the Menachem-Doek family. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in their lives. Your generosity will help them keep their home and ensure that they have the resources they need to continue fighting Elad's illness. Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of this family who has given so much to others. Let's show them that they are not alone in this fight and that we are here to support them in any way possible. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
sincerely
