Memorial Campaign in Memory of Ariel Goldschmidt

By Breakfast Running Club Jerusalem

Fundraising Campaign for Establishing a Memorial Corner in Memory of Ariel Goldschmidt, may his memory be blessed, on Mount Eitan

Donors: 105

On July 6, 2020, Ariel Goldschmidt was taken from us under tragic circumstances. Ariel, a married man and father of four children, had moved to Jerusalem from Australia at a young age. He studied at the Hebrew University, serving as a guide and counselor at Bnei Akiva. He also served in an intelligence combat unit before pursuing studies in law and business administration. Ariel was a multi-talented individual, but what truly set him apart was his ability to be a genuine friend. He was a long-distance runner, completing a marathon in less than three hours and even guiding a blind runner in the London Marathon. Ariel was a member of the "Breakfast Club" running group, and we believed it would be fitting to commemorate him on the trails of Mount Eitan, a place where he ran, dreamed, and loved. The memorial project involves the restoration and reconstruction of the parking area on Mount Eitan. It will include the installation of six picnic tables and benches, repairing the terraces in the area, constructing a fire pit and barbecue stations, improving access (including sets of stairs and an access path), installing water fountains, and planting trees, among other enhancements. All of this is intended for the benefit of hikers and runners who visit the site. And, of course, it will serve as an official memorial to Ariel, allowing his friends, admirers, and family to cherish his memory.
