We've all heard about the miracle involving Amichai Shindler and his family. Amichai was severely injured while protecting his wife Avital and their six children from the brutal terror attack on 7.10.23 On the morning of Simchat Torah during the Hamas terror attack, the defensive wall of their Kibbutz, Kerem Shalom was breached. Since Avital and Amichai's house is adjacent to the wall, it was the first house the terrorists were heading for. While they were in their secured room, Hamas terrorists broke into their house searching for them. Amichai bravely protected his family by holding the security door handle with his hands not to let them in. Realizing they couldn't get in, they attached a bomb to the door handle from the outside and blew the door. As a result of that, Amichai got badly injured, losing his right arm, almost all of his fingers on the left hand and suffered many injuries in his face. After enduring hours between life and death, Amichai was rushed to Sheba Hospital. He remained hospitalized in intensive care for many days, sedated and ventilated. Avital and their six children were evacuated to a hotel in Eilat because their house was extensively damaged in the terrorist attack. Currently, Amichai is undergoing rehabilitation at Sheba, which will be a lengthy process. Avital is en route from Eilat to Sheba, taking care of both Amichai and the children.
