Immediate mental health support for children who've escaped the warzone
Israel is facing a crisis with unprecedented levels of mental distress and trauma, and an overwhelming number of people requiring urgent assistance, not only in the first circle of exposure.
Since the beginning of the war on October 7th we have received innumerous calls for help due to our previous work in the Gaza Strip Envelope. The educational system will soon re-open to cope with trauma, fear and anxiety of both students and caregivers. We need your help to ensure children and youth receive proper trauma-informed care, and that their educators and therapists are given proper support and tools to cope with this reality.
We are here for them! And we need your support.
Our NGO’s co-founder Dr. Rony Berger is an internationally recognized expert in Trauma interventions during crises (see full bio). He has been in the South supporting thousands who lost their loved ones and homes.
Educare IL is a non-profit organization founded to promote resilience and prevent violence in Israeli society. We implement research-based programs for therapists, educators, parents and children (see list of publications) on a countrywide scale. We train professionals across all sectors of Israeli society including underprivileged communities, in mindfulness and social and emotional learning programs. Since our non-profit’s founding in 2014, we’ve reached thousands of professionals and over 250,000 children across Israel.
We currently have four projects approved and underway requiring immediate funding:
2. Training and supervision for professionals at the Southern division of youth at-risk, Israeli Ministry of Education (האגף לילדים ונוער בסיכון מחוז דרום): The head of Southern division responsible for all children and youth at-risk who were evacuated from their homes, has requested a 30 hour trauma-informed training for 25 teams of professionals, youth and their families.
4. Support and supervision for headmasters and teachers at Ofakim (a heavily impacted town): initial training and ongoing supervision to the educators of Ofakim (a town conquered and massacred by terrorists) while schools resume, in adjusting their responses to the situation, based on current trauma research and approaches.
6. Immediate and ongoing mental health support for families of front-line combat soldiers: this population is often left out of the relief circles of official military and governmental bodies and has contacted us for direct support. These are families who either lost their loved ones in the first week of the war, or are supporting their sons and daughters who lost their combat mates.
8. Immediate and ongoing trauma-informed care for the families of Kibbutz Beeri: Dr Berger has been supporting the surviving families of Beeri for the past week, since he was contacted by them. The Kibbutz lost 20% of the community in the atrocious massacre, and the survivors will require trauma-informed care for a long period of recovery, by highly proficient therapists.
We need your donation to keep on being there for the children and parents whose lives have shattered, Any donation will help bring light into the darkness.
