Due to the unprecedented and complex situation in Israel, many urgent needs continue to emerge, for civilians in areas of conflict and the huge numbers of reservists who have been called up upon short notice. They require an immediate response, which the State and the army are not necessarily capable of providing in the immediate short term. Thank God, there are many private initiatives across the country working to fill the void at this stage. Requests for assistance are coming in constantly. Our contacts are receiving requests from mayors and council leaders in the South of Israel asking for urgent help in purchasing equipment such as: baby formula, diapers, water, snacks, blankets, pillows, etc. A kitchen has been opened in Netivot by a volunteer chef who is preparing about 1,000 meals a day for soldiers. There are thousands of evacuees from the combat zones who are housed in hotels, hostels, community centers, branches of youth movements, etc. As we all know, they left their homes with nothing other than the clothes they were wearing. They need many basic items. In addition, there have been requests from military units urgently requesting supplies and equipment. We have contacted several major retailers who are ready to supply these goods at cost. Unfortunately, it seems that the current situation will not be short-lived and we must anticipate that the needs will only increase. We are working to locate and prioritize the most urgent requests and needs, in order to match them with the most appropriate solution, in coordination with other initiatives.
