Computers for Displaced Children and Evacuated Families

In the wake of the brutal terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023 and the subsequent war, thousands have been evacuated from their homes on Israel’s southern and northern borders. Evacuated families are being housed temporarily in hotels in Tel Aviv and other cities. In an impressive feat of citizen mobilization, volunteers have organized to provide evacuees with food, clothing, and logistical and emotional support. Many people in Israel and abroad are asking how they can join this effort and make a real difference. To support the evacuees and meet their needs beyond food and shelter, we have put together a fundraising campaign to provide families with laptop computers – a vital need in this moment of ongoing trauma. Computer access is critical for families who have been uprooted from their homes and children who have been wrenched from their familiar school and social frameworks. To meet these needs, we are mounting a campaign to purchase new laptop computers for the evacuees to be used for educational purposes and personal use. Please donate what you can – any amount is welcome, whether you can fund the purchase of an entire computer ($350), multiple computers, or part of a computer. The project will be facilitated by Snir, an Israeli non-profit with a long track record of social initiatives with communities in need. Snir will pool the donations, purchase the computers through an Israeli supplier, and install them in the hotels, schools, and other facilities set up to help the evacuees. This is so important.
