More Than a Year Has Passed.

More than a year has passed. More than a year since everything in Israel changed on October 7th, 2023. More than a year of suffering and anguish, of telling the stories of horrific sexual crimes committed against women, men, and children in Israel on national and global platforms. More than a year of documenting and codifying these stories, of raising awareness to the flashbacks, emotional flooding, and debilitating regression suffered by former victims of sexual violence, retriggered by the national attention. More than a year of resilience workshops, support groups, Knesset committee deliberations, expert webinars, mental health forums, training courses, and international conferences. More than a year of advocating for victims and survivors of sexual violence to receive the rights and services they deserve and fighting for additional benefits and support. More than a year of work to aid first responders, rescue workers, medical professionals, trauma experts, and mental health workers in processing what they witnessed in homes and in fields, in bomb shelters and army bases, on that dark Saturday in October 2023. The magnitude of the attack was unprecedented. Israelis across the country had their lives upended and their senses of security shattered. For over 30 years, The Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel (ARCCI) has been the premiere address for victims and survivors of sexual violence. We do not take that responsibility lightly. The road ahead might be long, but we are prepared to stand by victims and survivors of rape and sexual abuse in the State of Israel - always.
