In a New War That Awakens Old Trauma

Donors: 24

With the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023, thousands of Israeli families from the south and north of Israel have been evacuated to safer regions in the country – the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Bet Shemesh, and Central Israel. Among the evacuated are 17,000 disabled seniors in need of care, many hundreds of them with dementia. Life in a state of emergency is incredibly arduous for these seniors – crammed into hotel rooms in unfamiliar surroundings with an open hotel lobby where they can easily exit without being noticed. With no personal belongings or familiar items to comfort them. Many are without a home to return to. They are experiencing profound trauma. Donate to Melabev's Emergency Fund – Provide Evacuated Elderly Moments of Repose. With your assistance: • Senior evacuees with dementia join Melabev's Day Centers • Traumatized seniors receive one-on-one therapies • Provide senior group activities for evacuees in hotels
