Facing North - Join our family and participate in the most noble mission of all: saving lives and safeguarding our soldiers. In these critical times, as we face a state of emergency at Israel's northern border and in Lebanon, your support is more crucial than ever. After years of secrecy, now in the Iron Swards War, the full range of activities of one of the most important commando units ever established in the IDF – Yahalom Unit – has been revealed. The Unit is responsible for fighting the tunnels in Gaza – finding them, fighting them, and destroying them, is dismantling bombs hidden behind every door, at the entrance to pits, and alongside roads, is disarming rockets, missiles, and other combat means, is part of the IDF's anti-terrorism SWAT team, and is responsible for the use of explosives for offensive and defensive military purposes. In this war, the Unit's fighters experience events that are mentally hard to deal with. The soldiers are exposed daily to extreme and dangerous events that evoke challenging emotions. They participated in the fierce fighting on October 7, and in the first weeks, as the Army's bomb squad, examined the bodies of the murdered citizens in order to allow ZAK”A personnel to approach and handle them. Later, they experienced fierce combat in Gaza, mainly underground, lost fellow soldiers and friends, and saw many wounded. Each fighter reacts differently to these events, and there is no right way to respond to them. The mental recovery process from these difficult events is called 'processing combat experiences'. This is the official name for the treatment of combat trauma, or PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The Yahalom Unit has an experienced and well-established Foundation that supports it – the Yahalom Foundation. The Foundation was established to provide support to the soldiers and their families, and its missions vary in routine and emergency. Establishing and operating a therapy program for processing PTSD is undoubtedly one of the Foundation’s most important missions. In recent weeks, the Foundation has begun to assemble therapy teams that will provide response and support to anyone who needs help in coping with the war and its sights. The foundation is now raising donations to enable the funding for group therapies for the soldiers of Yahalom Unit. We call upon you – the people of Israel around the world, fighters, veterans, and families, to help us raise life-saving donations. Together we will heal, together we will prevail. (The foundation is a registered non-profit organization with a 46A tax exemption certificate and through JGive has a 501c3 exemption).
