Keep the Vision Alive - IDF Tactical Glasses Fundraiser

When I was eight years old, my father, Jeffrey W. Berger, M.D., Ph.D., passed away suddenly at the age of 37 from stomach cancer. Less than a year before he passed away, he and my mother went on a wonderful work trip to Israel, where he lectured about his research in ophthalmology. After this visit, he was intent on finding more ways to collaborate with physicians and researchers in Israel with the goal of visiting more often. As my father’s 23rd yarthzeit approaches, and Israel needs help more now than ever, I felt the need to run a meaningful campaign to help our soldiers in the IDF on my father’s behalf. I discovered that roughly 17% of IDF soldiers have endured serious eye injuries. While some soldiers are provided with proper and up-to-date tactical glasses, many reservists do not have this necessary protective eyewear. Our project aims to raise 500,000 NIS to purchase appropriate tactical glasses to protect at least 500 IDF soldiers who need this gear desperately.
