a bridge back home

A project of distributing the book 'Where Did Father Bear Go' as a gift to the families of the reserve servants

Donors: 494

Hi, I'm Adi, the wife of Matan Livneh , a  reservist, an educator and the father of our three children. Matan returned after 50 challenging days of fighting in Gaza that began on Saturday, October 7, 2023. There, between tasks, and out of a strong longing for us, Matan wrote and illustrated a short, calming, and reassuring story about a father who went to the reserves to protect his family. "Where Did Daddy Bear Go", Matan's illustrated story, unfolded at a fast pace via WhatsApp from one reservist’s family to another, and touched many small and big hearts, giving them a little security and comfort in complex days and nights. When I saw the power of the story, I wanted to print many copies of the book so that it would make its way to every family in Israel, in prayer of supporting and strengthening those who need it and to always remember the bridge connecting Abba Dov and his home. Beyond the naïve description in the children’s story, coming home from the war does not simply mean taking off the uniform. And to build a bridge home sometimes takes more time than we thought and requires help. By supporting us here you are not only supporting the distribution of this book to families of reservists, but also other existing projects which give help to reservists upon their return home and to those still serving. Among them: “For Tomorrow” (למען מחר), a project that helps reservists cope with the events of the war and organizes emotional support groups for partners of reservists. “The Hugger” (המחבקת), a group of clinical herbalists who created herbal essences specifically aimed at boosting the nervous system at this hard time, and have given help to more than 30,000 evacuees, soldiers and their families and survivors of the massacre. And a joint project with the schools ‘Reidman’ and ‘Magah’, which gives acupuncture and shiatsu treatments to reservists and their wives. Thank you for your support from all the women, children and men who mobilized to protect our shared home. Every donor interested in receiving a copy of the book will an email update when it is ready.
