THE OCTOBER 7TH COMMUNITY CENTER
Israel is under attack and countless displaced families, wounded soldiers, families of hostages, and the entire community needs our help. The October 7th Community Center will create a safe space for every single Israeli affected by the war to seek help and comfort.
BACKGROUND
The October 7th Community Center in Tel Aviv will be a place where Israeli children, displaced families, wounded soldiers, and anyone that has been affected by these brutal acts of terror can come and get help, talk to someone, get support, take an art therapy class, join a support group, take a therapeutic yoga class, have a hot meal, and remember what it’s like to be happy again. The October 7th Community Center will be open all week during the day and will have free sessions, classes, volunteer opportunities, and many other activities that will serve those in need.
PROGRAMS WE OFFER
GUIDED SUPPORT GROUPS
Many Israelis and Olim are suffering through severe trauma and PTSD from the war. We will create support groups in Hebrew and English.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
Children of all ages are suffering from the ongoing war. We will run programs such as art classes, sculpting, art therapy, beading, sketching, story time sessions, and more.
ART THERAPY SESSIONS
Israelis of all ages will benefit by volunteer run art therapy classes and sessions run weekly at the community center.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There will be countless volunteer opportunities for anyone in the community to take part in any of the sessions, classes, and workshops and even lead their own community projects.
We plan to partner with licensed therapists and create a safe space for people to receive ongoing trauma counseling if they would like.
SHABBAT & HOLIDAYS
The center will be a hub for the community to have Shabbat dinners and celebrate holidays with kosher food and their own private family events free of charge.
THERAPEUTIC MEDITATION
Meditation and guided meditation as a form of healing PTSD. We will have separate classes for men, women, children and mixed classes as well.
VOLUNTEERS FOR IDF
The community center will serve as a hub for additional non-profits to have a home base to run activities that benefit the IDF such as packing donated gear, food, and supplies.
FOOD DRIVE FOR FAMILIES
Many displaced families have been left with absolutely nothing. We will facilitate food and clothing drives for them.
WELLNESS CENTER
Yoga, tai-chi, krav-maga, movement classes, dance lessons, and more.
FREE HOMEWORK TUTORS
Displaced families and children who have had to leave their educational structures behind can get free tutoring from our volunteer tutors.
BUILD YOUR OWN SESSION
Community members and volunteers can create their own independent initiatives and facilitate the community center to run their own programs.
CREATING THE OCTOBER 7TH COMMUNITY CENTER
BUILD
We already have a location partially donated by an anonymous Jewish family for the community center. We need to hire a contractor to finish building the interior of the raw space and turn it into a beautiful, welcoming place for people to take part in healing sessions, classes, and activities.
LAUNCH
In order to open the community center to the public we need tables and chairs, sofas, coffee tables, refrigerators, supplies, a projector, speakers, microphones, lights, a coffee machine, office supplies, art supplies, and more. There is a kitchen in the back and next to it, two doors that lead to bathrooms.
RUN
To run the daily operations we will rely heavily on hundreds of volunteers and we will also need some part time paid staff such as program managers, maintenance and cleaning, and other hired help. We gave hundreds of volunteers from all backgrounds that are eagerly waiting to come help out!
ISRAELI ARTS CENTER
In the evenings the space will transform into an Israeli Arts Center and will open to the general public. We will have light food and drinks for purchase for people to come and sit in a welcoming and loving place with a small stage for local, emerging Israeli artists to perform small acoustics performances, have shows, lectures, fundraising events for those affected by the war. 100% of the proceeds from everything sold in the evenings will be donated for an entire year to the same worthy causes and back to the community center itself.
We will also be creating jobs that will be offered primarily to lone IDF soldiers, wounded soldiers, affected and displaced family members and more.
FUNDRAISING GOAL
In order to finish building the Community Center we need to raise a total of $330,000 of which $150,000 is for construction, $100,000 for materials that will be used in sessions, classes, and workshops all year round, payment for part time staff, inventory, and equipment and furniture such as desks, chairs, refrigerators, couches and more.
Please make your donation today and help us keep Israel safe.
TOGETHER WE WILL WIN.
