A study room in Alon Shavut to commemorate Major Yuval Lopez HY"D

A study room is being established in Alon Shevut to commemorate Sergeant First Class Yuval Lopez HY"d who fell in battle in Gaza. Yuval Lopez HY"d immigrated from Peru at the age of 5 with his family out of intense love for the land and the people of Israel. Yuval fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip from an anti-tank missile that hit the tank he was in. 27-year-old Yuval was the first-born son of Yochai, the manager of the grocery store in Kfar Etzion, and Yocheved, a beloved metapelet at the nursery in Rosh Tzurim. His brothers, Shimon and Yehuda are also in the IDF, serving in recent months in Gaza and the northern border. Yuval grew up in Gush Etzion and became attached to the place and the people, studied at the local mamlachti dati elementary school and later at the Orot Yehuda yeshiva high school. He left behind a wife, Sigalit and three daughters. Yuval was the 'glue' connecting the family. Yocheved says that he always worried about her and called to see how she was doing. Yuval wanted very much to enlist in the IDF, and started his service right after high school. After his reserve unit disbanded, he made a great effort to join a new reserve unit and fight for the defense of his homeland. Family members and friends wish to commemorate his memory by expanding the synagogue on Giv'at HaChish in Alon Shevut where the family settled, building a study room in his memory that will be used as a place of study for the children of the neighborhood and as a women's section on Shabbat.
