from the bottom of my heart

Dor Dan is currently writing a Torah Scroll in memory of his late mother, niece and all others murdered from Kibbutz Nir Oz

Donors: 110

Hello, my name is Dor Dan, and I grew up in Kibbutz Nir Oz. On the 7th of October, the day the Simchat Torah while celebrations supposed to take place, I experienced the most difficult personal and communal tragedy imaginable. On that day, whilst I was with my family in Harish, a nightmare took place in Nir Oz - the place where I grew up. My mother and niece were murdered in their home, and my community suffered a terrible loss of 30 murdered souls and 70 kidnapped. My nieces, Sahar and Erez Kalderon, were also kidnapped though after a long heartfelt struggle, were released. Their father, Ofer, and many other members of the kibbutz remain in captivity. My kibbutz, Nir Oz, went through a disaster that changed the course of my life forever. Though out of this total destruction, I set out to find solace and to honour those murdered through the writing of a Torah Scroll that would be written by myself. This will be my personal way of honoring my mother, my niece, and all those murdered and kidnapped from the kibbutz. The writing of the Torah scripture is a spiritual and personal task, which requires time, flexibility and resources. With this I turn to you, supporters of any kind, to help me achieve this task, in the next year and a half, I will dedicate myself to writing the Torah scroll. Your investments will allow me to devote my time to this. Join me on a journey of commemoration and remembrance, comfort and contribution to the community where I was born and lived and which was and is a significant part of my life. To those who'll who joins this journey of remembrance, comfort, and commemoration, I thank you dearly from the bottom of my heart.  Dor Dan.
