The Harvey and Elaine Snowbell Fund at Ogen, Israel’s Free Loan Fund

On May 19, 2024, Elaine and Harvey Snowbell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In honour of this joyful milestone, the Harvey and Elaine Snowbell Fund at Ogen, Israel’s national free loan society, was established by their family and friends. Torah, avodah, and g’milut chasadim are not simply words—they defined Elaine and Harvey’s marriage. Guided by these values, they devoted themselves to helping others achieve financial independence and stand on their own two feet. That is exactly what Ogen does as Israel’s national free loan society. Ogen's interest-free loans support Israelis when they need it most. After recipients overcome their challenges, they repay their loans, making the funds available to others in need. This ongoing cycle of loans and repayments gives your tzedakah a “helping value” many times greater than the original donation. On September 12, 2025—his 98th birthday—Harvey passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to Jewish values.
