Zecher L'Machatzit HaShekel 2024

The value and amount of half the shekel 2024  The amount of the memorial donation for half of the shekel is about NIS 26 per family member.  A source in the Torah in remembrance of the half shekel: (Parashat Shemot chapter 3, verse 13) "This is what all the past will give to the commandments, half the shekel in the holy shekel, twenty gerahs of the shekel, half the shekel, a contribution to the Lord."  It is customary to give a donation in memory of the 'half shekel' that they used to give in our temples that will soon be built in our days - Amen! In the month of Adar for the sake of the public sacrifices and nowadays it is customary to give to the decent poor (Shr't Skav) and there are some who write that it is possible to give to a house of churches and yeshivos for the study of the Holy Torah which are considered to be a small temple and most of them are really decent poor.  And the best time they used to give charity - before the minachah prayer of the Easter fast and you can also give in advance a month! So that the charity joins the fasting for the village (M2 Tarsad, 4; 28, 22).  And some practice giving a value of half the shekel as it was in their day. It was the equivalent of pure silver weighing 9.6 grams - and there are several methods for this as well (Khachh Tarzad, 20).  And all the customs are kosher, because some say that today there is no temple the main thing is charity, and whoever adds to charity will receive a blessing.  Any donation will be welcomed to strengthen the Avarach Kollel and the continuation of the yeshiva
