Last Hanukkah, our beloved Shai Uriel Pizem Hy"d, fell in battle in Gaza. His beautiful light was extinguished. Shai was a wonderful, humble person. A Torah scholar, truly of the land of Israel, who loved the people of Israel, the Torah of Israel and the Land of Israel. He dedicated his life to education and saw the establishment of Har Etzion's Yeshiva High School as a sacred task. Shai was a friend of Rabbi Amichai Gordin, and together they laid the infrastructure and cornerstones of the Yeshiva - a yeshiva with an inspiring vision for the future - to raise scholars connected to their Torah, their people and their country with a deep sense of personal responsibility, solidarity and joy. To our great sorrow, Shai's life was cut short, only 3 weeks after the birth of his first child, his daughter Yarden Ori. We have decided to continue Shai's life's work, into which he poured his entire spirit, here, in the Gush Etzion mountains, and build the Beit Midrash "Ohel Shai" in his name. Be partners with us - and together we will all walk in the light of Shai's vision and inspiration, and ensure that while he may not be with us, his memory and drive will guide us!
