Koret Israel Economic Development Fund (KIEDF) was established in 1994 with the aim of promoting employment and economic mobility, through access to credit (banking and non-bank), guidance and accompaniment of small and micro businesses in Israel's geographic and social periphery. Over the years, KIEDF has coordinated its programs for credit to small and medium-sized businesses in the periphery, where the shortage of credit available at reasonable terms for businesses is particularly onerous and constitutes a major cause of a shortage of jobs, especially for the younger generation. For hundreds of thousands of Israelis living in the geographic and social periphery, an independent source of livelihood is the only way to sustain themselves and their dependents. The various KIEDF programs enable the development of an independent business with fair financing and ongoing business accompaniment to create growth
