Ramat Rachel - Childhood Stories

Seven years ago, we set out on an extraordinary journey, unaware of the profound path it would lead us down. Our mission was to collect the childhood stories and memories from the early years of our kibbutz—tales of children who grew up and played here during the 1930s and 1940s, in those formative days when everything was just beginning. We gathered memories of children who had to leave due to war, those who returned with their parents to rebuild the kibbutz, and those who ventured out to establish another kibbutz at the foot of Mount Carmel. Each story unveils personal photos and vivid scenes from the kibbutz, blending together to form a moving mosaic of the kibbutz's earliest days and the nascent years of the State of Israel. At the core of each tale lies a child's story—a mother, a father, a sister, a brother; narratives of homes and belonging. **************** Now, we aim to bring these stories to life in a film that mirrors this mosaic—complete yet fragmentary, filled with unanswered questions, hopes, and longings. This is where we need your help. The Eyal Yoel Foundation, founded by Yehiel and Manya Yoel to honor their son Eyal's memory, is dedicated to commemorating Eyal in various meaningful ways. This project will highlight the story of Ramat Rachel's children over its first 50 years, including Eyal's story as one of the kibbutz children of the 1970s.
