My name is Meirav Shaibi, the Chairman of the non-profit organization called “Ohalei Kedar”. “Ohalei Kedar” is a registered non-profit organization that was established approximately 10 years ago as an initiative connecting donors and volunteers assisting weaker parts of the population in various areas. During these difficult times we are in the middle of a war and are required to join forces and try to assist each other as much as possible. Our non-profit organization, which is also active on a regular basis, is known for its sense of equality and assistance to others. Therefore, as part of our activities, we have established the “ Wheels of Giving” project. This project has been active for several years. As part of this project, volunteers from “Ohalei Kedar” repair damaged medical equipment (mainly wheelchairs) which are donated by the Ministry of Health to “Ohalei Kedar”. After repairing these wheelchairs, which are now ready for use, we donate them to various third world countries across the globe, where no access exists to this type of equipment. In addition, these wheelchairs are also donated to the Israeli population who cannot afford this equipment. This equipment was originally intended to be scrapped. Therefore, this project is also of high environmental value. During these awful days of war, we are working hard in an attempt to repair as much equipment as possible for the hospitals and the injured civilians from the current ongoing war “ Iron Swords”. Currently, there is a huge ongoing demand for wheelchairs. We have been receiving many requests daily, and we are doing our utmost to assist and support as many people as possible. Some of the requests are for the wounded and some are for disabled people, whose wheelchairs recently became damaged and ruined due to the recent evacuation from their homes during these times. During these days of war, more than 2000 wheelchairs were donated to the security forces, to soldiers, to residents whose property was destroyed, and to the medical system in hospitals across the country. In addition, the volunteers build custom-made wheelchairs for the seriously injured who need chairs according to the type of injury, fitting a chair allows for faster rehabilitation and prevents long-term physical damage All the requests we receive are from hospitals or from civilians that need this equipment desperately to be mobile and independent, or even to be released from the hospital, to clear a place for other patients. The cost and repair of this equipment is very expensive. However, since we know of its importance, we are requesting assistance. Please help us to assist the wounded from the war and the hospitals which are currently carrying the heavy load. Please enable the wounded to be mobile and independent and start their new routine which now includes paralysis and disability. We have an obligation as a society to provide and assist them. In addition, it is important to mention that “Ohalei Kedar” is a registered non-profit organization that was established years ago and contains all the required registered, confirmed and approved documentation (including document approval no. 46, regarding tax returns on donations).
