The Guy and Liav Observatory

Guy Simhi and Liav Aloush, childhood friends, were both combat soldiers in IDF special units who fell in battle in the "Swords of Iron" Gaza war. The observatory intends to commemorate their braveness and brotherhood, and honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for our homeland. The observatory will be a unique place, where visitors can learn about Guy and Liav, while they view our beautiful country and the area where the boys grew up. The observatory will emphasize the values that guided Liav and Guy in their lives: values of friendship, determination, courage, leadership, and love of the Land and the State of Israel. The observatory will serve as a symbol of the lives they sacrificed for their country. Guy Simhi Guy was born in 2003 in Kibbutz Re'im. He joined the IDF in 2021, and served in the paratrooper’s special unit. On October 7, 2023, while he was on vacation from his unit, Guy attended the "Nova" party with friends. When the Hamas terror attack began with hundreds of missiles, Guy led his friends to Kibbutz Re'im, and guided them into the bomb shelters. Guy then proceeded to gather other partygoers who were still outside and lead them to the shelters as well, while staying outside to keep guard and try and ensure their safety. With his bare hands and no weapons, he battled the terrorists, single-handedly killing a terrorist who tried to penetrate the shelter. When more terrorists arrived, they began throwing hand grenades into the shelter. Guy was severely injured and died after a few seconds. Guy saved the lives of 30 people with his courage and bravery, some were childhood friends and some were complete strangers. Guy Simhi was 20 years old at the time of his death.
