The Shimshoni Modiin Community – A Community That Has Been a Home for 25 Years Dear Friends and Supporters, After 25 years of the Shimshoni Community serving as a synagogue and community centre, contributing greatly to its members, local residents, and the entire city of Modiin, we have decided to launch a fundraising campaign. The aim of the campaign is to refurnish the synagogue, install central air conditioning, and upgrade the synagogue’s infrastructure to enhance and elevate our sacred space. A synagogue serves as a unifying force in the neighbourhood – Our synagogue is not only a place for prayer and Torah study throughout the week, but also a community centre that organizes various cultural activities, charitable acts, and assistance to those in need. The Shimshoni Community is well-known for its acts of kindness towards community members, neighbourhood residents, IDF soldiers, and bereaved families. Our synagogue is a gathering point that brings neighbours together during holiday prayers, celebrations, and, sadly, even during times of mourning. “Welcoming guests is greater than receiving the Divine Presence” – Since its inception, the Shimshoni Community has taken pride in being hospitable and welcoming. We continue to uphold the principle that there are no reserved seats in our synagogue. Every guest is invited to enter, feel welcome, and pray together with the community members. Everyone has a place with us – Our community is growing and diverse, with around 150 families, including seniors, young couples starting their families, and members from various cultural backgrounds. Everyone is welcome and invited to take part and feel a sense of belonging. Adorning with Splendor – For many years, we have prayed without adequate furnishings in the synagogue, lacking enough tables for the congregants. In celebration of the community’s 25th anniversary, and due to the ongoing need, we have decided to furnish the synagogue and improve the existing infrastructure. The donations we collect will be used to purchase about 50 beautifully designed tables for congregants, upgrade the prayer leader’s stand, install a central air conditioning system, improve the partitions, and renew the prayer books and Torah study materials. The total amount needed is around 180,000 ILS, with an initial 90,000 ILS allocated to purchasing the tables and synagogue furnishings. The remainder will go toward purchasing air conditioning units and other needs. (The Shimshoni Community is a registered non-profit organization, and donations are eligible for tax deductions under Section 46. Tax receipts are also available for US and UK donors.)
