Manara - a beacon of hope

Founded in 1943 on the Ramim Mountain Ridge, the highest peak on the Lebanese border, Kibbutz Manara has served as a beacon for northern settlements and a frontier shield for the Hula Valley and Israel. The journey was not easy and determination then, and now, was and will always be, the key factor in successfully settling the kibbutz. Manara has faced numerous challenges over the years, including water shortages, endless nights in underground shelters, a dwindling population, and countless security threats that at times led to loss of members' lives while defending their home. About a decade ago Manara underwent a period of rapid growth, welcoming new families in a newly built neighborhood and revitalizing its community.   This progress was halted by the Iron Swords War on October 7th, 2023.  More than 75% of the buildings on the kibbutz were seriously damaged, as well as a great deal of the kibbutz infrastructure.
