Beit Hillel’s mission is to save the Torah from disconnecting with the Israeli present, and to save Israeli society from tragically cutting itself off from its Jewish roots. We believe that the Torah of Israel, Jewish tradition and wisdom, and Halakha have a central and crucial role to play in building a strong and moral Israeli society; but the Torah is in danger. A chasm threatens to divide Israeli society between those who are committed to liberal values and connected to technology and Western culture, on the one hand, and religious society with all its variations, on the other. The religious world’s failure to respond to today’s challenges, in the realms of values, consciousness, and technology, will lead to alienation from the Torah and its messages, both in general society and within the religious Zionist community. Beit Hillel aims to address a lack of religious leadership that is both connected to changing reality and dedicated to Torah and Halakhah. Our mission is to represent a values-based Judaism that is attentive to and aware of today’s challenges, based on commitment to Halakhah and preserving the Jewish tradition that has been passed down to us.
